Alebrijes were first created in the year 1985, in San Pedro Cajonos when David Blas carved the first mask; for the group of dance of the community; This was the beginning of the carved wooden figures...

David Blas formed the first Alebrijes, selling the masks to a countryman in the community,who sold the figures in the capital of Oaxaca... In 1990, the family Blas started to carve his first pieces that were Serpents, Birds, Crucifixes, and designs Animals.

After this they carved the first insect that was an avejorro which revolutionized the of carvings and paintings of David and Rogelio Blas... At present, these insects form a part of the variety of pieces carved such as: the Dragons, the mermaids, orchids, Serpents, Martians, Frogs, Monsters, pegasos, imaginary animals, among others...
